HI! This is Beamy!!! Have you ever noticed that people are always talking about summer reading? Kind of funny, isn’t it? You would think people would want to read in winter when it’s cold and you don’t want to go outside.
However, if you are looking for summer reading, I have a super happy book for you!!!!!! It’s Heidi by Johanna Spyri. Heidi is the story of a little orphan girl who goes to live with her antisocial grandfather high on a mountain in the Alps. Heidi loves life on the mountain with Grandfather and his two goats. She also befriends the goatherd Peter, his army of goats from the village at the bottom of the mountain, and Peter’s blind grandmother. After a few years of living with Grandfather, Heidi’s aunt comes and takes her to live with a family in Frankfurt to be a companion for a girl in a wheelchair named Clara. Heidi does not enjoy life in Frankfurt, but she does become friends with Clara, Clara’s Grandmama, and several other people in Frankfurt. I can’t tell you anymore because it would spoil the rest of it, but if you want a happy story, this is a good one. And if you have already read this book, there is no time like the present for a reread! The characters are enjoyable, the settings are well described and fun to imagine, and the ending is just wonderful!!!
Also, don’t forget that today is National Best Friends Day!!! And I think a day about friends would make Heidi very excited!
So Happy Best Friends Day to all of you, my friends, who read this blog!
Smiles! and hugs!
Beamy
Me and my new Friend!!!
