Do you want to eat only steak and ice cream? Pollyanna does!!!

Today, I am going to tell you about a movie I really, really love! It is Pollyanna (1960), starring Hayley Mills. The movie is set in the 1910s, which is an era I love, but my main reason for loving the movie is because it is all about being happy and looking on the bright side of things. The movie begins with orphaned Pollyanna going to live with her wealthy Aunt Polly in a small town. Throughout the movie, Pollyanna helps many of the residents of the town become happier, including her aunt's servants, two elderly people she befriends, the town's minister, and, eventually, her aunt. One of the ways she does this is by playing "the Glad Game." In the Glad Game, when you're feeling down, you try to think of something to be glad of. This game is something almost everyone can use sometimes, and pretty easy!

Another one of my favorite things about Pollyanna is the quote she has on her necklace from her father. It is: "When you look for the bad in mankind, expecting to find it, you surely will," but I prefer to think about the quote as: "When you look for the good in mankind, you are sure to find it!"

This week, if you're feeling down, try to be a Pollyanna by looking for the good and being glad!

Or if that doesn't work, try this: It comes up several times throughout the movie that if Pollyanna were rich, she would always eat steak and ice cream, so try to figure out what kind of ice cream and steak would go best together.
